Canadian Masters Athlete of the Month – February

Norm Lesage

M85 Norm Lesage BC broke two CAN Records in the 60m (twice) and the 200m. Norm’s times were 10.68 at the Harry Jerome Meet in Richmond on Feb 7th and 39.76 at the BC Masters Championships in Kamloops on Feb 15th (where he also broke the CAN in the 60m, but with a slower time than his 10.68).

The previous records were 12.08  and  43.61

Honourable Mention:

M50 Team Ontario Relay Team broke
the recent M50 CAN by the four Guss Brothers
with a 8:37.23 in the 4X800m..not far of the 8:32 World Record – Serge Faucher, Paul Osland, Mike Sherar, and Geoff Peat

W80 Alice Cole PQ broke her own record (41.44) with a 40.88 finish in the 200m. Alice set the previous record at the Worlds last year in Budapest

M45 Yannick Le Mouël PQ   broke the M45-49 Canadian record (8,75) in the 60m Hurdles in Montréal

W60 Johanna Flipsen AB  broke the CAN record for 3000m Racewalk with 16:30.44 at the Alberta Indoor Games on Feb 15.  More than a minute faster than the posted record

W85 Betty Jean McHugh BC set a World Single Age (87) Record 2:43:30 in the Vancouver Half Marathon
