Canadian Masters Athlete of the Month – February

W70 Carol Lafayette-Boyd SK broke the World Record with a 8.18m mark in the Triple Jump at the Queen City Indoor Championships in Regina on February 9th. The World Record was 7.99m by Asta Larsson SWE set in 2003. Christa Bortignon BC held the CAN at 7.41m. Canadians now hold the TJ WR in the W70, W75, W85, and W90 age groups.

Carol also broke the CAN 200m record in 33.23 at the same meet.That breaks Christa’s 35.74 CAN record.

Other outstanding performances last month;

BJ McHugh BC, who broke the W85 WR with a 2:32 finish in the Half Marathon.

M90 Harry Thompson BC broke FIVE CAN records at the meet in Kamloops – 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m.
