The CMA has selected co-winners of Athlete of the Month honours for January, both of whom set senior Canadian women’s records at the Houston Marathon despite the fact that they are now in the W35 category.
Olympian, Malindi Elmore broke the Canadian marathon record with a blistering time of 2:24:50, more than two minutes faster than the previous record. Malindi’s run was especially impressive considering she will celebrate her 40th birthday in March.
In the half-marathon, Natasha Wodak became the first Canadian woman to break 70 minutes in 1:09:41. Natasha had already set a W35 record in January at the BC Championships near Victoria by running 8k in 25:55.

Honourable mention goes to 2019 NCCWMA award winning sprint star, Karla Del Grande, who continues her record-breaking tear in 2020 with a new W65 record in the 60m of 8.87s. The age-grading on Karla’s sprint is an incredible 104.27%.
