His 59.47m Javelin throw broke the Canadian record by 2m, on May 17 in Nanaimo. He bested the #1 in Canada in 2016 by 10m, and would have ranked him #1 in the world in 2016.

Brent broke his own wheelchair T-53 series World record in the 100m in 14.15 (his previous one 14.17) at the Daniela Jutzeler Memorial para-Athletic Meet in Arbon, Switzerland. He won 3 medals at the meet in 100 (14.15),200 (25.49) & 400m (47.49 PB).
