Christa Bortignon Breaks Five CAN Records At The USATF Championships

W70 Christa Bortignon BC followed her outstanding meet at the World Championships with another record-breaking meet at the USATF Masters Championships in Berea, Ohio this weekend. She won seven events – breaking CAN records in five of them.

Christa ran the 100m in 16.16, breaking Diane Palmason’s mark of 16.85 set in 2009. She jumped 3.47m in the Long Jump – breaking her own mark of 3.42m set earlier this year in Eugene OR. She then set the new standard in the Long Hurdles, running 43.71 over 27″ hurdles and 200m. Ruth Carrier’s previous mark was over 30″ hurdles and 300m. The event was changed last year.

Christa competed in the Pentathlon – setting a 20.76 CAN record in the 80m Hurdles on her way to establishing a CAN record of 3348 total points.
