CMA Board of Directors Announces New Provincial Directors for Ontario and Alberta

The CMA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the new Provincial Director for Ontario, Damian Dupuy, and the new Provincial Director for Alberta, Johanna Flipsen.

Dr. Damian Dupuy, PhD

is currently Vice-Chair of the Masters Council of Athletics Ontario. His love of track and field was nurtured growing up in Ireland where he ran at the club-level in Dublin. A masters runner since 2015, he is an active member of the University of Toronto Track Club. Preferring to run in longer distance events, he has competed in a number of provincial, national and international championships. In addition, he was a member of the Local Organizing Committee for the (sadly cancelled) WMA World Championships that were due to take place in Toronto in 2020. When not running, he is a part-time member of the teaching faculty at the Institute for Management and Innovation, and the Department of Geography both at the University of Toronto, and a full-time provincial civil servant.

Johanna Flipsen

of Edmonton, Alberta, has been a competitive athlete in a number of sports since she was a teenager; she currently competes in the W65-69 age group. As a Masters athlete, she has competed at the National level in synchronized skating and powerlifting, while also doing triathlon and road running. Her current passion is race walking. Johanna spent 20 years on the Board of Directors of a large employee-run fitness centre, most of those years as President. She is currently President of the Alberta Race Walk Club. As Athletics Alberta’s Masters Representative on the CMA Board, she looks forward to making a contribution to both organizations.

Thank you to past Provincial Director for Ontario, Doug Smith, and past Provincial Director for Alberta, Donna Dixon for their many years of invaluable service.

Welcome, Damian and Johanna!
