As part of The Good Games Multi-Sport Festival, CMA is pleased to present the Race Walking “Try-It” Event — an opportunity to try this unique sport.
Race Walking is a fantastic way to stay fit and active. It’s a unique blend of speed, technique, and endurance, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a dynamic and engaging physical activity. CMA supports athletes of all ages and abilities, and Race Walking is just one of the many athletics events we offer.
The event is open to ANYONE who wants to try Race Walking! No prior experience or athletic skill is necessary. You just need to be able to walk!
You will receive expert guidance and training, from Nancy Leo, an experienced coach (former Canadian Masters record holder in Race Walks, medalist in World Masters Athletics Race Walks, NCCP Performance Coach) and two passionate Race Walkers. Learn the proper techniques and drills to get you started. We hope you’ll then consider joining Canadian Masters Athletics, and be inspired to train further to compete in Race Walks at local, provincial or Canadian Masters Athletics events.
You will also learn about the benefits of participating in Canadian Masters Athletics. We offer other events as well, such as cross-country, road races, track and field events (running, jumping, throwing, and yes, even pole vaulting). You can connect with like-minded individuals seeking to be the best that they can be, in a supportive community that celebrates achievements at all levels, whether beginners or medal winners. Our emphasis is on fun, fitness, and friendships.
To participate, please send an email to cma@canadianmasters.ca and then come out to Guelph on Saturday, July 8 between 10:00 AM and noon.
Please remember to wear comfortable athletic clothing and suitable running shoes and bring along a water bottle. Please ensure you adhere to local health guidelines and protocols during the event.
