Canadian Masters Athletics Announces
2019 Hall of Fame Executive Inductee
Based on recommendations made by the Hall of Fame Committee, the CMA Board inducts into the Canadian Masters Athletics Hall of Fame individuals who are judged to have made significant contributions to masters athletics in Canada, in either of two categories – as Athletes or as Executives/Administrators. The 2019 inductees in the category of Athletes were announced on May 1, 2019.
For the year 2019, one individual will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the category of Executive or Administrator, Jake Madderom from Burnaby, BC.
Jake has been a member of CMA since 1985. As an athlete he has won medals in over a dozen Canadian Masters Championships and competed in seven WMA Championships.
It is as an administrator that Jake really shines. He has been a member of the BC Athletics Masters Committee for 33 years, including 20 years as Chair. He has been a long-serving member of the BC Athletics Road Running Committee and Board of Directors and has been the Provincial Director of the CMA for 20 years. He has sat on organizing committees for numerous championships races and meets and currently compiles masters records in BC. Jake has also served the athletics community as an official in recent years.
His history of service goes on and on.
Jake has been honoured for his volunteerism by BC Athletics, by his Kajaks club and by the province of British Columbia.
Presentation of Awards The 2019 inductees into the Canadian Masters Athletics Hall of Fame will be invited to receive their awards at the CMA Awards Dinner, to be held on July 6, 2019, in conjunction with the Canadian Masters Athletics Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are being held in Sainte-Thérėse, QC, or at such other suitable occasions which may be chosen by the winners.
