18 Masters athletes for Quebec (L) made the trip to Toronto for the 6th Canadian Masters Athletics Indoor Championships on March 14-15th.
The 235 entries was the largest turnout at a Masters Indoor event in Canadian history.
There were 19 Canadian Records broken during the two day event.
W75 Christa Bortignon BC and W55 Muriel Gieni SK
Christa broke the CAN Records in the 50m and 50m Hurdles
Muriel broke the CAN’s in 50m Hurdles, 60m Hurdles and Triple Jump
They broke a total of 7 Meet Records
Murial jumps the 30″ hurdles.
Christa uses the 27″ hurdles that Brian Keaveney personally modified
to facilitate the event
M80 Ted Rowan SK broke Karl Trei’s 26 year old CAN record
in the 60m Hurdles in 12.93. He also set a CAN in the 50m Hurdles
M85 Bill Thompson ON broke Harry Thompson’s CAN
with a 11.41 in the 60m
Bill also set a CAN in the 50m in 9.53
Trailing Bill is M80 Jim Blair from New Zealand
W40 Michelle Hastick-Cowell ON jumped 10.64m in the Triple Jump
breaking Liz McBlain’s 27 year old CAN record
M55 Glenn Chipkar ON (L) and M45 Yannick Le Mouël PQ
both broke the CAN records in the 50m Hurdles
Glenn in 8.27 and Yannick in 7.75
W60 Kris Kozell ON broke her own CAN with a 8:09.49 in the 1500mRW
M60 Ward Hazen ON broke the CAN in the 60m Hurdles in 9.44
M70 John Kittredge ON broke his own CAN in the 1500RW in 8:19.20
W80 Jean Horne ON also broke her own CAN in the 1500mRW in 11:05.43
W40 Judith Métivier PQ leads her mates to a CAN in the 50m Hurdles in 9.29
M60 Al Percival BC (#179) broke Tony Powell’s 7.1 CAN record
with a 7.19 in the 50m. (Tony’s hand-timed mark adjusts to 7.34)
University of Toronto Track Club M40 Relay Team
set a CAN in the 4X800m with a 8:50.03
