There were many excellent performances in August by Canadian Masters athletes across a variety of events. Athlete of the Month honours are being given to co-winners, one of whom is Karla Del Grande. Karla broke her tenth world record at the Athletics Ontario Masters Championships in Toronto, this time in the W65 300m hurdles with a time of 54 seconds flat.
David Guss has also been named co-winner of Athlete of the Month for his five CMA record-breaking performances in August. David (M60) ran a 4:54.90 mile in Kelowna, then a 4:34.59 1500m the next day in Surrey. He returned to Surrey two weeks later to compete in the BC Masters Championships and broke records in the 3000m (9:52.30), the 2000m steeplechase (7:08.81), and the 4x800m. David anchored the relay team to a time of 10:37.46.
