World and Canadian Records Set at the Regina Championships

Excel Athletika Track Club hosted the 39th Annual Canadian Masters Outdoor Championships in Regina on the weekend.

The W70 team broke the World Record in the 4X800m Relay with a time of 15:41.25…over a minute faster than the old WR.

in the 200m (43.50)
and the 400m (1:35.76)
also breaking the World Record of 1:40.45 !

W75 Margaret Tosh SK broke the Canadian Record in the Discus (23.15), and the Meet Records in the Shot Put, Hammer, and Javelin. She also won the Weight Pentathlon.

Margaret was honoured at the CMA Awards Banquet on Saturday night with her induction into the Canadian Masters Hall of Fame.

 

 

W60 Karla Del Grande ON
broke the CAN in the 200m in 28.64
into a 2.8m/s headwind!
She just missed the MR in the 100m by 6/100ths
and that was ito a 3.3 headwind!

W60 Rose Hare BC broke her own CAN in the  Weight Pentathlon on Friday.

The W50 Relay team broke the CAN in the 4X800m by over 2 minutes – in 10:39.30

Donna Dixon AB, and Heather O’Hagan ON 

M40 Dmitry Babenko BC broke JP Xu’s CAN with a 6:34.18 in the 1500m Racewalk. It is a new event at the championships – added in 2010.

W65 Cheryl Closkey BC
broke her own CAN
with a 27.32 throw in the Hammer

M80 Ted Rowan SK broke Karl Trei’s 24 year old CAN Record in the Pentathlon on Friday with a total of 3506 pts.

Ted was part of the M80 4X100m Relay team that ran 1:10.57 – breaking the CAN mark of 1:14.61. Ray Wardle ON, Bill Thompson ON, and Arnold Nett AB made up the team.

The M70 4X800m Relay team
ran 12:25.28 – breaking the CAN
by over a minute.
